JSPS研究員
Mohamed Kefi joined UNU-IAS as a JSPS-UNU Postdoctoral Fellow in September 2016. He is a member of the Water and Urban Initiative (WUI) project. He got his Ph.D. from the University of Tsukuba in 2011. The main objective of his doctoral study was to assess the impact of soil erosion on small dams and agriculture productivities by applying an approach based on a combination biophysical and economic model. Additionally, his undergraduate and graduate research was mainly related to water use in water-scarce conditions.
Prior to joining UNU-IAS, Mohamed Kefi worked as an Assistant Professor at the Water Research and Technologies Centre (CERTE) of Ecopark of Borj Cedria, Tunisia (2012 – 2016). During this period, his research dealt with Water Resource Management in particular. He focused on the problem of water quality and quantity and their effects on human health and agriculture production as well as socio-economic aspects. He also supervised undergraduate and master’s students in their scientific studies.
He has also had some professional experience in international projects in Tunisia. He worked with JICA for one year as an administrative assistant for the SATREPS project: Valorization of Bio-resources in Semi-Arid and Arid Land for Regional Development. He was also a local deputy coordinator of a project financed by the European Union between 2003 and 2007. The main objective of this project was to improve the livelihoods of people living near small dams.
