Subgroup 3 (SG3)
Development and verification of a model to predict waterborne infectious diseases posed by changes in natural and human environment
This SG develops models to predict risk of waterborne infectious diseases in urban areas in Asia. SG3 also aims at development and verification of an integrated risk estimation model considering foodborne vector-borne (insect-borne) routes of infection and person-to-person transmission.
Aims of the project
1. Development and verification of models, using data from field survey and earth observation, to predict risks of diseases caused by rise in temperature, air pollution and infectious agents which are local-scale but ubiquitous problems in environmental health.
2. Application of the developed models to forecasting future health risks.
