Expectations are high regarding the potential of solar energy systems as a means of promoting renewable energy for the future and the subsequent reduction of carbon emissions. It is well-known that the feed-in tariff system has helped to speed up the installation of solar technology, with installation occurring on buildings and on the roofs of urban areas and homes and the construction of mega solar facilities on various vacant lots.
This research investigates the possibilities for the introduction of solar energy systems into villages that had previously undergone no such work. Specifically, the possibilities for installation on previously unused canal slopes are being investigated in cooperation with the Kamedagou Land Improvement District. Through the installation of small test equipment, research investigates not only the conditions of power generation but also its effect on the growth of weeds. The study also conducts hearings with affected stakeholders to consider the potential to create value beyond mere power generation as well as the process of introducing a solar power system.
