Professor Takashi Mino obtained bachelor, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in 1978, 1980 and 1983, respectively from Department of Urban Engineering, the University of Tokyo. He had worked as Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor in the same Department until he became Professor at Graduate School of Frontier Science (GSFS) in 1999, where he is currently serving as Vice-Dean. He also serves as Coordinator at “Graduate Program in Sustainability Science – Glonbal Leadership Initiative”. In-between, he was Associate Professor at Asian Institute of Technology (1989-91), Visiting Resercher at Delft University of Technology (1995-96) and Visiting Professor at Chalmers University of Technology (2002-04).
Educated as wastewater engineer, Professor Takashi Mino has been interested in ecology of microorganisms in biological wastewater treatment system. Especially, biological phosphate removal from wastewater and mathematical modeling of biological wastewater process are his major subjects. He is also interested in technology management for water related technology systems. One of his responsibilities as well as his interests lies in development of pedagogy and curriculum for sustainability education at higher education level. He has been involved in the operation of educational program including Intensive Program on Sustainability (IPoS), Asian program for Incubation of Environmental Leaders (APIEL), and Masters Program in Sustainability Science – Global Leadership Initiative (GPSS-GLI).
